Frames That Flatter

Young Woman Shopping for New Glasses

To many, one of the most daunting aspects of finding the perfect glasses is figuring out which frame flatters you most. There’s a lot to take into consideration: shape, thickness, size, and then of course style decisions like embellishments vs. clean & sleek, vintage retro vs. modern. With a world population of over 6 billion, each and every one of us with a unique face, shape and size—the various styles of glasses should be suited to your own individual look. Today, I’m here to demystify the process in a fun way! Use the following steps to uncover which frames are a match for your beautiful face.

First, let’s determine your face shape. Grab a dry erase marker, or a lipstick and stand in front of your mirror. Draw an outline around the border of your face, then behold your shape to determine which face type category you best fit into:

A. Square – Angular face with a strong jaw line, broad forehead and square chin. Proportional length and width.
B. Oval – Mostly balanced proportions. chin is slightly narrower than forehead and cheekbones are high.
C. Oblong – Narrow shape that’s longer than it is wide, longer nose and tall forehead.
D. Round – Full cheeks, rounded chin with few angles.
E. Diamond – Narrow at the eye line and the jaw line with a small forehead and chin.
F. Heart - Broad forehead and wide cheek bones that narrow to a small chin.

Next, look at these classic frame shapes and see which face types above they work well with. Click the photos to check out frame suggestions from Pearle Vision that you find your category under:

I’m reading the six descriptions of the face shapes with a mirror in my hand and cannot for the life of me quite figure out which one I am. Most people probably do not adhere exactly to these 6 types. We lie on various points of the face shape spectrum. I think this article would be exponentially more helpful if you had photos of actual people’s faces that are typical of each shape. A transcribed description just isn’t quite clicking for me. A visual example would probably do the trick for me in terms of understanding the aesthetic dynamics between certain types of glasses and certain types of faces.

The worst glasses & management of any where we’ve ever been in. They do not care one bit about their customer’s. They do not know how to write or fill a prescription. When my husband & I went back for the 4th time to try to get his glasses correct, the manager made it clear with her bad bad bad attitude why this store is so horrible!!!! She’s also ignorant she though she could convince us that purple is blue. No,do not go here!!!! Also cost us a lot of money for nothing. We didn’t have insurance at the time either. This has turned us agiant all pearl vision’s.

I agree.. The phoned there to say that my glasses was only done on one of the lens of anti glare and protective coating And the other lens are stretched up. They said my two years up ..they can’t do anything. I paid over 500 for it including the60 dollars one year fee for protective coating. And my one year fee was approaching, I sent it, they only did it on one lens not both lens. Now one side of my eye got worse for wearing my glasses that has one protective coating and one stretched up lens. They ask me how can that happen..They’re the ones that did it. They made it sound as if its my fault. I tried taking it back to get them to see it, they said they can’t do anything. I called there today to confirm it, still they say they can’t do anything my two years are up. Is that service or what.. ?

I have been using Woodstock hey 92 for yrs.w/o any problems. LOVED the older optometrist who passed. Current one gave good exam but he mumbles! I had to ask him write down what he was saying ..not good! Ordered reg glasses & sungl thasses. Have been back 3-4 times for adjustments I expressed displeasure & I am exchanging them. They have been very accommoding & working with me to find right glasses! Suggested me to Roswell store where they carry better variety of boutique styles! This level of customer service brings return customers & word of mouth …go to Woodstock where you will receive honest service! I will update this if anything changes.
