Try On Tool Dress Up: Totally Tortoise

Try On Tool Dress Up: Totally Tortoise

One of the biggest frame trends du jour is a comeback of a classic finish known as tortoise. Its roots are in retro frame styles from the 40s and 50s when horn rimmed glasses were constructed from horn or actual tortoise shell. However, for most of their history they have been made from thick plastics that imitate the tortoise shell material—a speckled print in contrasting brown hues. Tortoise is often associated with a scholarly, vintage look, and the pronounced rimming to some may have the connotation of being outdated—an assumption I assure you that would quickly be proven wrong after trying on the new, sleek, luxe take of updated modern interpretations made in the finish. With Pearle Vision’s Try-On Tool, you can quickly try on our wide range of tortoise styles right from the comfort of your computer. To get you inspired, today I engaged in a bit of pattern recognition myself as I experimented with a few of my favorite tortoise frames. CONTINUE READING Continue reading
